Meet Joanne and the team

Led by Joanne Brooker, Pengwen Bookkeeping is located in Sydney’s Hill District and serves businesses throughout Sydney and beyond.

Our team works with established small to medium business owners across all industries. However, we have a soft spot for tradies thanks to our partnership with ServiceM8.

We’re a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB – Member in Practise), which involves the annual testing of our knowledge. We also ensure our standards and procedures are of the highest quality and up-to-date.

When it comes to account management software, we recognise one size does not fit all. So we’re certified in Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks online. We also have experience with Leap, Agent Box, Navision and Pharmacy Software. We can also help transfer you to a more suitable software if required.

Pengwen Bookkeeping has grown via word of mouth referrals from delighted clients and thankful accountants with minimal advertising.

Joanne Brooker is a dynamic bookkeeper with many years of experience up her sleeve.

She started Pengwen as a sole trader in 2007 with the aim of working around her family commitments. As a constant reminder of life’s priorities, Joanne even named the business after two of her loved ones – her daughters Penelope and Gwendolyn. (So no, it isn’t a spelling mistake!)

With a Diploma in Accounting – and being a qualified Fitter and Turner with Rolls Royce – Joanne also has experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain Logistics, Supply Contracts, Employee KPIs and reviews, and WHS (NSW) including risk assessments and running safety committees.

kathy carden
Registered BAS Agent

Kathy is a highly-experienced bookkeeper who has Xero certifications as both an Advisor and in Payroll. Her brain is filled with years’ worth of knowledge in MYOB AR and Premier as well.

In the past, Kathy has worked with a range of industries including trades, manufacturing, real estate, family trusts, hospitality, and telco.

Her strengths include policy and procedure implementation, inventory management, report preparation, and customer service.

When not at work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her three boys and immersing herself in hobbies like camping, gardening, and Australian muscle cars.

renee van der merwe

Originally based in our Rouse Hill office, Renee now works remotely from her new home in Queensland.

With over 15 years’ experience as an accounting professional with strong reconciliation skills, Renee is a CPA Associate member. She’s certified in QBO and Xero and is highly organised with excellent communication skills.

Renee’s background includes working with business owners in construction, manufacturing, retail, medical, education, and publishing. So she brings a lot of expertise to the table.

When not at work, Renee is a busy mum to two beautiful daughters.
